UX Designer, Researcher & Content Specialists (Human-centered design for a public long-term care program)
We're seeking UX Designer, Researcher, and Content Specialists to help shape accessible, person-centered digital experiences for a public long-term care program. The primary objective is to design intuitive experiences that make it easier for people to find, access, and plan for long-term care services and supports. We're seeking someone who blends human-centered research, hands-on design, and clear content, and who cares deeply about designing for everyone, including older adults, caregivers, and users with limited English proficiency.

This position would be for an initial term aligned to a multi-year government engagement, with the possibility of extension (contingent on contract award). The position is 100% remote (U.S.-based) with the potential for occasional trips to stakeholder or client sites.

Duties include:
​
1. User Research & Discovery
-
Stakeholder Engagement: Conducting interviews with program staff and stakeholders to capture goals, constraints, and success criteria.

User & Beneficiary Research: Leading one-on-one research with current and prospective users, including English as a Second Language (ESL) and Limited English Proficiency (LEP) participants, to uncover needs, motivations, and pain points.

Personas & Journey Mapping: Translating research into validated personas and journey maps that reveal opportunities to improve key user flows.
2. UX & Interface Design

Wireframing: Designing screen layouts, navigation, and interactive elements for both websites and mobile applications.

Prototyping: Building clickable, testable prototypes for web and app experiences.

Behavioral & Inclusive Design: Applying behavioral design patterns (nudges, progressive disclosure, smart defaults) and inclusive authentication options to encourage engagement and reduce barriers for every user.
3. Accessibility & Content
-
Accessibility Testing: Evaluating designs and live software against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 and providing clear remediation guidance.

Content & Readability: Writing plain-language content and applying readability standards, including large, legible primary text, across digital properties.

Multilingual & ESL Support: Developing English as a Second Language (ESL) friendly and multilingual content approaches consistent with language-access obligations.
4. Testing & Continuous Improvement

Usability Testing: Planning and running moderated and unmoderated testing of mockups and live software, then reporting prioritized recommendations.

Documentation: Maintaining design, research, and artificial intelligence (AI) tool documentation, including prompts, sources, and citations.

Iteration: Refining designs based on testing and stakeholder feedback as the program evolves.
Ideal candidates bring:

Experience across UX design, user research, and UX content or content design.

A portfolio showing journey mapping, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing.

Working knowledge of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 and accessible, inclusive design.
-
Experience in government, healthcare, insurance, or other regulated environments (a plus).

Familiarity with long-term care / long-term services and supports (LTSS), or artificial intelligence (AI) informed design (a plus).

Duties include:

1. Strategic Benefit Management

Design and Evaluation: Assisting with benefit plan design, bidding, and evaluation of alternative financing mechanisms such as employee contributions.

Market Analysis: Identifying appropriate markets and analyzing vendor proposals, including voluntary benefits, based on client's criteria.

Performance Tracking: Providing quarterly progress reports and analyzing plan performance, specifically comparing premiums against claims.
2. Compliance and Legislative Guidance

Regulatory Maintenance: Reviewing benefit programs on a continuing basis to ensure compliance with government regulations.

Expert Consultation: Providing guidance on major mandates such as PPACA, HIPAA, ADA, and USERRA.

Reporting Support: Filing required regulatory forms with the IRS or other agencies as necessary.
3. Operational Support

Contractual Assistance: Drafting and reviewing RFPs, advising on contract negotiations and renewals, and ensuring the accuracy of coverage terms.

Budgeting: Providing renewal rate estimates and helping client's staff prepare budget and expenditure projections.

Claim Resolution: Assisting with the resolution of specific claims when requested.
4. Communication and Wellness

Employee Outreach: Developing required plan communications for annual enrollment and providing resources like a benefit website, videos, and booklets for employees.
